Throughout the semester our class has delved deep into the meanings of what it meant to be a hero in 19th century literature. We have explored the different variations of heroes and the roles that these heroes portray in their own respective stories. After our exploration of the various hero types, we have decided to focus our attention on three certain hero types: Byronic Heroes, Romantic Heroes, and the influence 19th-Century heroes have had on the modern day hero. We will delve into the meanings of what each hero type means, a few different heroes in each style, and how those heroes are portrayed in there respective stories. In addition to all this, we will be providing quotes from each text that promptly shows how they are heroic - and we will anotate the quotes by giving our reasoning as to why they show heroism in the character.
